“Livelihood enhancement project for DUDA areas”

In recent times, livestock rearing in different forms have emerged as an alternative or additional source of income in urban and rural areas, but mostly in rural areas in Nagaland. Identifying the increase of protein-based local production and the demand for the same in the local market, EA is currently working in partnership with the Department of Underdeveloped Areas, Govt. of Nagaland with the aim to link producers to the market. The creation of such a linkage will also contribute to responsible production and consumption of local produce in the market. Simultaneously, EA is also undertaking capacity building activities to enhance local skills of farmers and entrepreneurs engaging in protein-based production.

The motivation of this project is to engage farmers and entrepreneurs in the protein-based production to meet the existing local market demands. There is also a simultaneous effort to sustain livestock related income. Thus, in a bid to facilitate sustainable livelihood, the project seeks to build upon the local skill, harness the local production, and meet the demands of the local market.
