Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2016)

On the 6th of October 2016, Founder and CEO, Mr. Neichute Doulo, was awarded the prestigious Social Entrepreneur of the Year (SEOY) — India 2016. The winner was selected out of 100 applicants and 5 finalists, that was declared at the Indian Economic Summit, New Delhi, with Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport, Highways and Shipping of India handing over the award. In the presence of over 300 participants, Neichute Doulo was acknowledged for his contribution of over 2 decades in the field of promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance in a region torn by factional as well as fratricidal fights. The award reinforces and recognises the unique endeavours made by the organisation headed by the dynamic optimist in building hope and self confidence amongst the citizens of a region where utter disillusionment and frustration has been widely prevalent. Instituted by the Schwab Foundation, a sister organization of the World Economic Forum, in partnership with the Jubilant Bhartia Foundation, the award promotes social innovations in India working for the marginalized and neglected communities. EA’s recognition means a lot for the entire North Eastern Region which has been marginalised and undermined for decades, leading to feelings of alienation among the people of this area. The award is akin to balm over the wounds of resentment and will create a connect with the mainland, which is the need of the hour. It is not just an honour for EA but for all the people who have been participating and upholding the organisation since its inception in 2000. Neichute Doulo, will be joining the Schwab Foundation’s global community of over 300 social innovators. He also be represented the country at the World Economic Forum 2018.
